On Building Trust With Clients

The myriad of issues to address in the workplace during the pandemic is overwhelming. And how do you establish trust with a first-time client and their team, without ever having the opportunity to work face to face?

In a recent engagement, I managed to not only establish trust, but also a collaborative working relationship over eight months. It started with strong communication – providing immediate responses and sharing timely updates and daily status updates at the end of the day. (This was especially important in the first two weeks of the engagement.) It ended with delivery of a strong work product with documented recommendations on process improvements.

The level of appreciation expressed by my client for my work ethic, work quality and personal style are an immeasurable reward. There’s no greater compliment than hearing from my client that “I was the perfect fit for her team.”
