The Client had a team member leave the company. Unfortunately, the team member exited before someone new could be hired for that position. Apart from my existing role in a different area, the Client asked if I had the bandwidth to take on that person’s work. Within a week, I had to quickly learn as much as I could about a department that I hadn’t had any previous experience. Considering myself a perpetual student, I told the Client I was eager to the task since I knew I would have the opportunity to learn something new.
Later, we discovered that the role had a lot of responsibility and required more support. The Client ended up hiring two new people, who I was expected to train.
It was an unexpected opportunity to learn, build rapport with another team and develop personnel.
