During a recent engagement, I was brought on to help improve a client’s inventory physical count and data-entry process. This client was an eight-month-old startup with very high inventory turnover, and they were using a manual process to track the inventory and perform the monthly physical counts.
They had already begun NetSuite customization and the process of entering the inventory into the system, and my first step was to audit the inventory in NetSuite and compare it to the count sheets. The warehouse teams were having issues entering the inventory data into NetSuite, so I made sure they received proper training. Next, I created physical inventory count procedures and assisted in training the warehouse teams on proper implementation.
Since these procedures were implemented, the physical inventory counts and NetSuite data have been more accurate. The warehouse teams now know how to properly count the inventory, check inventory in and out and enter the data into NetSuite.
