In a recent client engagement, I was able to interact and work with individuals in various business functions, including marketing, legal and product development. That interaction led to a much greater understanding of business operations and ability to create impact.
I helped non-finance individuals through the onboarding of their vendors into the new SAP (ARIBA) system, which was implemented while I was on the project. I implemented efficiencies and streamlined areas of the month-end close process, including some automation in the reconciliation of Accounts Receivable. I also created documentation around pulling revenue from the Affiliate Network sites, which will be distributed to various parts of the business for reference.
It was rewarding to develop strong alliances with other business units like the product development team, which relied on information that I directly provided to them and to their vendor point of contacts as well as any support they may have needed. This all helped the Accounting Department show their cross-departmental support within the organization.
