The client had recently been acquired, and the acquirer and acquired business teams were trying to learn each other’s cultures, processes and systems post-acquisition. As a Consultant, I was there to increase the business value and provide an unbiased opinion to help improve their processes.
By offering sound and unbiased suggestions, I was able to build a trusting relationship with the client. So when we were brainstorming ideas, everyone on the team felt comfortable sharing ideas and opportunities. That free flow of communication broke down barriers and made it easier to implement the necessary changes.
Building a relationship, wherein you are perceived as a true “partner,” is the most satisfying feeling on an engagement. It makes for fun and productive days!
